Sao Paulo is the largest city in Brazil and the world’s 7th largest city by population. The city has a population of about 11 million and is located in Southeastern Brazil. It has significant cultural, economic and political influence both nationally and internationally. It is also considered the financial capital of Brazil. Sao Paulo is as well one of the country’s most ethnically diverse city. There is a large number of immigrants from Europe (such as countries from Portugal, Spain, Italy and Germany), immigrants from Asia (such as China, Korea and Japan) and from Arab countries.
Some interesting places to see are first of all the Paulista Avenue, the most important financial center of Sao Paulo. Walking done the avenue is like being in New York. Sao Paulo has the third highest density of buildings in the world. The Paulista Avenue is also a site of many cultural centers and museums, for example the MASP (Sao Paulo Museum of Art). The Oscar Freire street in the Jardins district, not far away from the Paulista Avenue, is one of the luxurious streets that offers shops with luxury brands. As well the Rua Augusta is a beautiful street with many shops, art galleries, theatres and pubs. Another important museum of Brazilian art is the Pinacoteca do Estado de Sao Paulo, located in the downtown of the city.
